LED Receiving Cards: Functions, Compatibility and Selection

What is an LED receiving card?

A receiving card transfers mapped display data to LED modules inside a cabinet. It is a different component from a video processor, sending controller or local-media player. Selection depends on the sending system, output loading, cabinet mapping, physical connectors and operating constraints

Receiving Card Selection Checklist

The table below is a selection and verification framework, not a fixed product BOM or a guarantee of compatibility. Confirm the proposed configuration and project conditions before final approval.

How receiving cards work in an LED system

A sender or integrated controller delivers display data to receiver cards; the receiver card distributes signals to the module-level electronics. Hardware and configuration files determine which pixels and scan methods are addressed.

What to compare before choosing a card

Consider supported pixel load, data ports, system protocol, scan configurations, backup pathways, form factor, firmware and service support. A larger pixel capacity is not by itself evidence of universal compatibility.

Common receiving-card brands and families

NovaStar receiving-card lines (including A8s/A10s and MRV families), Colorlight receiving cards and Huidu HD-R families are possible vendor research paths. Refer to current official product sheets to compare exact model attributes; naming them does not mean all can be interchanged.

For detailed configuration and compatibility, consult the relevant linked technical guide listed in the internal-link implementation table.

Selection versus configuration

This guide covers which receiving-card capabilities to request. Mapping and loading a cabinet configuration belongs in the dedicated Receiving Card Configuration & Mapping guide, while redundancy principles remain with the existing Control Systems guide.

Practical selection checklist

Confirm the buyer’s purpose, screen dimensions and effective pixel count where applicable, required input/management features, environmental conditions, and the exact system-level performance that will be accepted at handover. Avoid treating model names or a supplier’s catalog rating as blanket compatibility or guaranteed field results.
