Texture LED Screen: Technology, Surface Options & Selection Guide
A texture LED screen is an LED display whose visible surface is engineered to remain visually useful when digital content is not playing. Depending on the surface process, the inactive display can read as a three-dimensional architectural material, a decorative finish such as stone or wood, or customized artwork.
The category responds to a recurring project requirement JYVISIONS hears from architects, designers and end users: they want the digital display, but they do not want a large black electronic surface to dominate the room when the screen is idle.
Texture describes the surface treatment and off-state role of the display. It does not define the LED packaging technology underneath. Depending on the surface process, texture LED can be implemented with COB or SMD architectures.
For the complete commercial family, review the Texture LED Screen.
Why Do Texture LED Screens Exist?
Conventional LED walls are optimized primarily for the powered-on image. In lobbies, headquarters, meeting rooms, hotels, resorts, showrooms, cultural spaces and premium commercial interiors, however, the screen may spend long periods without active content.
In these spaces the off-state matters. JYVISIONS customers commonly ask for a display that does not become a black rectangle, that blends with the surrounding decorative surface, or that can remain a painting, culture wall or architectural feature when digital content is not required.
This changes the design question from only “How should the screen perform when it is on?” to a second question: “What should this wall look like when the display is off?”
Three Texture LED Product Routes
JYVISIONS separates texture LED into three product routes because they solve different off-state design problems. The choice should follow the desired physical surface, finish flexibility, artistic intent and maintenance strategy rather than treating every texture treatment as the same technology.

3D Relief Texture LED Screen — Physical Materiality
The 3D Relief Texture LED Screen is designed for projects where the surface must have real physical depth, not only a printed material pattern. The relief can be seen and felt, allowing the inactive display to behave more like an architectural material.
This route is especially relevant where the surrounding wall already uses three-dimensional stone, tile or decorative panels. In hotel lobbies, large meeting rooms and other premium interiors, matching that physical depth can make the LED wall feel more natural and less like an electronic object added after the interior was designed.
Decorative Texture LED Screen — Finish Variety
The Decorative Texture LED Screen uses a decorative texture film laminated over the LED surface to create stone, marble, wood grain, mirror-like and other customized finishes. The decorative layer is the defining surface treatment; the underlying LED platform can use COB or SMD + GOB depending on the project requirements.
This approach has been used for several years, is more mature in production than the newest 3D relief route and is generally less expensive. JYVISIONS currently sees stronger market awareness and higher shipment volume for this route.
Mirror finishes are a practical example. JYVISIONS has supplied mirror-finish texture LED for U.S. resort and casino environments, and a current U.S.-bound P1.25 mirror-finish project exceeds 300 square meters.
Custom Art Texture LED Screen — Artistic Expression
Custom Art Texture LED is available for both indoor and outdoor projects. Outdoor configurations can reach IP65 waterproof protection. JYVISIONS also has past Custom Art projects where the printed artwork surface has maintained its visual color for about five years in actual use. This is first-party project experience rather than a universal color-retention warranty; final durability depends on the project environment, exposure and surface process.
How Do the Three Product Routes Compare?
| Decision | 3D Relief Texture LED Screen | Decorative Texture LED Screen | Custom Art Texture LED Screen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary value | Physical depth / tactile relief | Finish variety / design flexibility | Artwork / branded expression |
| Off-state role | Architectural material | Decorative surface finish | Artwork / graphic / culture wall |
| Typical direction | Stone / relief / 3D material | Stone / marble / wood / mirror / custom finish | Painting / branded art / graphics |
| Relative maturity | Newest route | More mature; higher current shipment | Earliest route; higher market awareness |
| Best when | Physical materiality matters | Finish freedom and cost matter | Artwork or branding matters |
Can Texture LED Use COB or SMD?
Texture LED is not tied to one LED packaging technology. JYVISIONS mainly promotes fine-pitch COB for many 3D Relief projects. Decorative Texture LED can be built on either COB or SMD + GOB platforms, with the decorative texture film optically laminated over the finished LED surface. Custom Art Texture LED follows a different SMD mask-based route, where the artwork is applied to the physical mask rather than laminated over the LED chips.
How Does the Surface Affect Brightness?
Surface treatment can reduce visible light output, but the effect is not one universal percentage. Color, relief depth, coverage and optical structure all matter.
In JYVISIONS’ current engineering experience, a white 3D relief surface may reduce visible brightness by roughly 50–60%. When deeper relief is combined with customized color treatment, some configurations can lose about 70–80% of the underlying screen brightness. Because of this, JYVISIONS commonly starts some 3D relief projects with high-brightness COB systems in the 1,000–2,000-nit class before the surface treatment is applied.
Decorative textures generally transmit more light than the 3D relief route, although some colors and finishes can still reduce effective output by roughly 50–60% in specific configurations. Mirror finishes also introduce reflections as part of the desired visual effect.
These figures are project-specific engineering observations, not universal product specifications. Final brightness should be evaluated against the selected surface sample and the real ambient-light condition.
For the broader luminance and ambient-light decision framework, use the LED Display Brightness & Contrast Guide.
What Should Be Confirmed Before Production?
Texture LED projects should be qualified from the real interior finish, not only from a display datasheet. JYVISIONS may ask for site photos, an actual decorative material reference or a sample-approval step before production.
- Site photos and the wall or decorative material the display needs to match.
- Screen dimensions and important viewing distances.
- The off-state target: real 3D material, decorative finish, mirror effect, artwork or branded graphic.
- High-resolution artwork files for Custom Art Texture LED Screen.
- Ambient-light conditions and the required brightness after surface treatment.
- Maintenance expectations and the spare-part strategy.

Maintenance and Spare Planning
Texture surfaces create additional maintenance considerations because a replacement part has to match both the electronic display and the physical finish.
For 3D relief projects, JYVISIONS may plan spare finished panels because matching the same relief and color later can be difficult. For Decorative Texture LED, spare finish parts can be produced in advance and checked for off-state appearance, powered-on color consistency and light transmission.
For Custom Art Texture LED, the original SMD mask can normally be removed, the module replaced and the mask reinstalled; a damaged mask can be reprinted at additional cost.
For general structure and service-access planning, see the LED Display Installation & Structure Planning Guide.
Real Project Evidence: ANTA Group Headquarters
In July 2026, JYVISIONS completed the ANTA Group Headquarters 3D Relief Stone LED Display in Jinjiang, China. The project used a P1.25 flip-chip COB display with a custom Nanshan Yellow surface and approximately 1–2 mm of real physical relief.
The wall was designed to match the room’s existing architectural finish when idle and become a digital communication surface when powered on. The project demonstrates why surface color, texture, relief, brightness and service access need to be coordinated before production rather than treated as separate decisions.
When the Project Is Broader Than Texture
If the project must also compare glass transparency, close-view fine-pitch performance, irregular geometry, floor surfaces or multi-surface immersive coverage, use the Architectural LED Integration solution as the cross-technology selection owner.
If the starting problem is simply that a conventional LED wall looks too electronic or too black when idle, see How to Make an LED Screen Blend Into Interior Design for the problem-led entry point.
