Read the guideWhat is a transparent LED screen?
A transparent LED screen presents video and images while allowing light and the background behind the display to remain visible. Open or transparent areas around the LED pixels reduce visual obstruction compared with an opaque LED wall.
LUCID modular panels, INV holographic transparent displays and FILM self-adhesive LED film achieve this through different structures and installation methods. “Holographic” describes the visually open effect of the physical LED display; it does not mean optical holography.
How does a transparent LED screen work?
LED pixels emit the image while open or transparent areas let background light pass through. Panel structures, circuit layout and film construction determine how each architecture balances image detail and background visibility.
Understand the technology →Why use transparent LED on glass?
Glass often needs to preserve daylight, sightlines and views into a space. Transparent LED adds digital content while retaining varying levels of openness. Glass reflections, lighting and video content all affect the perceived result.
Buyers also use terms such as transparent LED wall, transparent LED panel, see-through LED screen and clear LED screen for this broad category.
Transparent LED FAQ
Definitions, product differences and practical project questions.
What is a transparent LED screen?
A transparent LED screen is a digital display that shows video, images and other visual content while allowing light and the background behind the display to remain visible. Unlike a conventional opaque LED wall, transparent LED displays use open or highly transparent structures that minimize visual obstruction around the LED pixels and circuitry.
Transparent LED technology can take different forms, including panel-based transparent LED screens, holographic transparent LED screens and transparent LED film.
Is a transparent LED screen the same as a transparent LED display?
In most buyer and project discussions, “transparent LED screen” and “transparent LED display” describe the same broad display category. The exact product structure can still differ significantly, including serviceable transparent LED screens, self-adhesive LED film and holographic-style transparent LED solutions. The correct architecture should be selected by glass conditions, viewing distance, brightness, transparency, installation and maintenance requirements.
What is the difference between a transparent LED screen and transparent LED film?
A panel-based transparent LED screen uses structured LED panels or modules assembled into a larger display, while transparent LED film uses a thin, lightweight film-based structure designed for integration with suitable glass surfaces.
Modular systems are generally better suited to projects where structural installation and serviceability are priorities, while LED film can be advantageous where thin construction, direct glass integration and high background visibility are important. The better option depends on the installation environment and project requirements.
What is a holographic transparent LED screen?
A holographic transparent LED screen is an industry term for a highly transparent LED display designed to minimize visible supporting structure around the LED pixels, creating a floating or visually open digital effect when installed on or around glass.
Despite the term “holographic,” the image is produced by physical LED pixels rather than optical holography. JYVISIONS INV Series is designed around this type of transparent LED architecture.
Which transparent LED technology should I choose for my project?
The right technology depends on your installation surface, glass conditions, viewing distance, ambient light, required transparency, screen size, maintenance access and visual objectives.
As a general starting point, LUCID is suited to modular installations where structure and serviceability are important; INV prioritizes high transparency and minimal visible structure; and FILM is designed for thin, lightweight integration with suitable glass surfaces.
For project-specific selection, JYVISIONS can evaluate site photos, glass dimensions and CAD drawings before recommending a configuration.
Can a transparent LED screen be installed on existing glass?
In many projects, transparent LED technology can be integrated with existing glass, but suitability depends on the selected display technology and the condition, dimensions and structure of the glass.
Transparent LED film may be applied directly to suitable glass surfaces, while modular or holographic transparent LED systems can require different mounting arrangements. Glass dimensions, mounting conditions, cable routing, maintenance access and environmental factors should be evaluated before installation.
How do I choose the right pixel pitch for a transparent LED screen?
Pixel pitch should be selected according to expected viewing distance, screen size, content requirements, desired image detail and the transparent LED technology being used.
A finer pixel pitch provides higher pixel density and can improve detail at shorter viewing distances, but the smallest available pitch is not automatically the best choice. Transparency, brightness, project budget and overall screen dimensions should also be considered.
How bright should a transparent LED screen be?
Required brightness depends on ambient light and the installation environment. A transparent LED display operating indoors under controlled lighting has different requirements from a storefront display exposed to strong daylight.
Direct sunlight, glass reflections, viewing direction and operating hours should all be considered. Rather than selecting the highest available brightness, the display should be configured for sufficient visibility under the actual site conditions.
Does higher transparency always mean a better transparent LED screen?
No. Higher transparency preserves more visibility through the display, but it should not be evaluated independently from image quality, pixel pitch, brightness, viewing distance, structural requirements and installation conditions.
The appropriate balance depends on the project. A retail window prioritizing visibility into the store may require a different balance from a large commercial display where image impact is more important.
Can transparent LED screens be customized to non-standard sizes?
Yes. JYVISIONS can engineer transparent LED solutions for project-specific and non-standard dimensions, subject to the technical constraints of the selected product architecture.
Screen configuration, control-system requirements and installation design can be developed according to project conditions. Structural drawings, CAD documentation and installation drawings can also be provided where required.
How is a transparent LED screen maintained after installation?
Maintenance depends on the transparent LED technology and installation method. Panel-based transparent LED screens can provide service access to replace affected components, while holographic and film-based systems use different maintenance approaches according to their structure.
Maintenance access should therefore be considered during project design rather than after installation. JYVISIONS provides spare parts and technical support for project maintenance requirements.
What information should I provide when requesting a transparent LED screen quotation?
For an accurate project recommendation, provide the installation location, glass or available installation dimensions, site photos or videos, expected viewing distance, indoor or outdoor conditions, ambient-light conditions and preferred screen size.
CAD or architectural drawings are particularly helpful for project-based installations. Project location, schedule and any known control-system or installation requirements should also be included where available.
What should I look for when choosing a transparent LED screen manufacturer?
When evaluating a transparent LED screen manufacturer, look beyond headline specifications such as pixel pitch, brightness and transparency. Consider whether the supplier can evaluate your installation environment, recommend an appropriate display technology, provide engineering drawings, support customization and control key manufacturing and quality-control processes.
Buyers should also review pre-shipment testing, certification requirements, spare-parts support, installation guidance, warranty terms and after-sales capabilities.
For project-based purchases, a manufacturer should be able to explain why a particular screen configuration is suitable for your glass dimensions, viewing distance, ambient light and maintenance requirements—not simply recommend the model with the highest specifications.
